St John Ambulance
St John Ambulance youth programmes operate across England, enabling young people to learn first aid, build their confidence, and gain important life skills. Our programmes include Badgers and Cadets, the longest standing youth offers in St John, and two funded programmes, NHS Cadets and Young Responders.
Badgers
The youngest St John people aged 5 - 11 take part in fun activities based on essential first aid, whilst working towards the Super Badger Award.
Cadets
Our largest youth programme supports 10 - 18-year-olds to achieve the Grand Prior Award, our top award. Cadets can also put their first aid skills into practice at public events including the London Marathon, music festivals and football matches. There are also opportunities to compete in international first aid competitions and enjoy weekend residential camps packed with fun activities.
NHS Cadets
A programme delivered in partnership by St John Ambulance and NHS Trusts across England, aimed at young people aged 14 to 18 who are from communities currently under-represented within both organisations. Together we are supporting young people from a range of backgrounds, enabling them to develop their potential in roles they might not have considered previously.
Young Responders
An initiative focused on supporting young people from under-served communities to acquire physical health first aid, street violence first aid and mental health awareness skills that are relevant to them and the communities in which they live.
